Kid Friendly: Teen friendly – I keep learning that many books that are kid friendly do not translate into the same on the big screen.
Spiritual Issues: Many fans of the literature are disappointed in this movie, however, it is a good movie that grapples with human hubris, forgiveness, and the need to follow God’s plans (which are often mysterious to us).
First a confession, I have not read the books! I know shocking but I have listened to the very captivating performance version put out by Focus on the Family. My wife admits that this was the least favorite of the books for her. She also had a hard time with the movie since it does stray significantly from the book. How so?
- The implied romance between Susan and Prince Caspian is nowhere to be found in the book
- The hubris of High King Peter is also not the point of the Book
However, these themes do not derail the main point. We cannot expect Hollywood to do evangelism but we can hope that they do not mask the primary themes of Christian books and in Caspian they do not. It is clear that Aslan is the Christ figure. It is also clear that for our plans to succeed they must be based upon seeking God’s will not our own.
I give this movie 4 out of 5 stars. Not as great as the first movie but how many are?

Bill,
Read the books! You will be so glad you did. I did like the movie, but found that although in some ways it was more interesting than the book there was an important part that was left out. But a secular person would not understand.
There is a place in the book where Lucy must follow Aslan and get the others to follow her as she follows him. They can't see Aslan but she can. That part really pictures how we all must follow in faith even when we don't understand where or why Jesus is leading. And I guess you know about that!
oh come on Viola I'm going to watch all the movies!
Just kidding, I know I should read them, they're now on my list of things to get around to!
That scene is in the audio theatre and is one of the parts that really sticks out.
I can't wait for some of the later books to be made into movies!
The Dawn Treader is my favorite. Like a kid I can hardly wait!
